classification
Myth
A traditional story concerning the early history of a people or explaining natural or social phenomena, typically involving supernatural beings.
Myths are sacred narratives that explain the fundamental questions of existence: how the world was created, why natural phenomena occur, how humans came to be, and what happens after death. Unlike fairy tales, myths are typically believed to be true by the cultures that tell them. Major mythological traditions include Greek, Norse, Egyptian, Hindu, Chinese, and Mesoamerican mythologies. Myths often feature gods, demigods, and cosmic events on a grand scale. Modern scholars like Joseph Campbell and Claude Lévi-Strauss have analyzed myths to reveal universal human concerns and cognitive patterns.
