The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse
A Country Mouse invited his Town Mouse cousin to visit him in the countryside. The Country Mouse served barley, nuts, and roots, which the Town Mouse found terribly plain. 'How can you live like this?' he said. 'Come to the city and see how well one can dine.'
The Country Mouse agreed and traveled to town. In a grand dining room, they found the remains of a feast -- cheese, cake, and honey. But just as they began to eat, the door burst open and two huge dogs rushed in. The mice fled for their lives into a crack in the wall. The Country Mouse packed his bag at once. 'Goodbye, cousin,' he said. 'I prefer my simple, safe country life to your dangerous feasts.'

Community Discussion
I love how this variant emphasizes the role of the magical helper. It's so different from the version I grew up with!
The ATU 510A classification really helps in seeing the structural similarities with Ye Xian. Fascinating stuff.
